SSC CGL Syllabus 2024

Tier-I Examination:

  • Subjects:

    1. General Intelligence and Reasoning

    2. General Awareness

    3. Quantitative Aptitude

    4. English Comprehension

  • Number of Questions: 100 (25 questions per subject)

  • Maximum Marks: 200

  • Duration: 1 hour (1 hour 20 minutes for candidates eligible for scribe)

  1. General Intelligence and Reasoning:

    • Analogies, similarities and differences

    • Space visualization, spatial orientation

    • Problem-solving, analysis, judgment

    • Decision making, visual memory

    • Discrimination, observation, relationship concepts

    • Arithmetical reasoning, figural classification

    • Arithmetic number series, non-verbal series

    • Coding and decoding, statement conclusion

    • Syllogistic reasoning, semantic classification

  2. General Awareness:

    • Current events

    • Everyday observations

    • Scientific aspects

    • History, Culture, Geography

    • Economic Scene

    • General Policy & Scientific Research

  3. Quantitative Aptitude:

    • Computation of whole numbers, decimals, fractions

    • Percentage, ratio & proportion

    • Square roots, averages, interest (Simple and Compound)

    • Profit and loss, discount, partnership business

    • Mixture and alligation, time and distance

    • Time & work, basic algebraic identities

    • Elementary surds, graphs of linear equations

    • Triangle and its various kinds of centres

    • Congruence and similarity of triangles

    • Circle and its chords, tangents

    • Trigonometric ratio, standard identities

  4. English Comprehension:

    • Vocabulary

    • Grammar, sentence structure

    • Synonyms, antonyms

    • Spotting errors

    • Fill in the blanks

    • Sentence improvement

    • Comprehension passages

Tier-II Examination:

  • Paper-I (Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes):

      1. Mathematical Abilities

      2. Reasoning and General Intelligence

    • Number of Questions: 60 (30 per section)

    • Maximum Marks: 180

  • Paper-II (Duration: 2 hours):

    • Subjects:

      1. English Language and Comprehension

      2. General Awareness

      3. Computer Knowledge Test

      4. Data Entry Speed Test (DEST)

    • Detailed Sections and Topics:

      • Mathematical Abilities: Number systems, arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, probability

      • Reasoning and General Intelligence: Verbal and non-verbal reasoning

      • English Language and Comprehension: Grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, writing ability

      • General Awareness: Current events, scientific aspects, history, culture, geography, economic scene

      • Computer Knowledge Test: Basics of computers, Microsoft Office, internet, networking, cyber security

      • Data Entry Speed Test (DEST): Speed and accuracy in data entry

Note:

  • Both Tier-I and Tier-II exams are conducted in English and Hindi, except for the English Comprehension section which is only in English.

  • There is negative marking for wrong answers: 0.50 marks for Tier-I and 0.25 marks for Tier-II.
